To get rid of your hair, there's nothing better than permanent hair removal. Smooth skin every day, without having to worry about whether you look perfect. Putting on a little dress or planning an impromptu trip to the pool or the sea is finally possible thanks to your pulsed light hair removal. Need some advice? Here's how to epilate with an Intense Pulsed Light Epilator.

Choosing the location for your session

Choosing whether to have IPL hair removal at home or in an institute depends on a number of criteria.

Being pampered in an institute is quite pleasant! Many institutes offer permanent hair removal by pulsed light, performed by an esthetician. However, you'll need to be aware of their availability and opening hours.

Intense pulsed light hair removal at home gives you greater freedom. No need to make an appointment, you can use your pulsed light epilator whenever you like. What's more, you save money by using your Intense Pulsed Light device, rather than going to an institute. Each session takes place at home, in your bathroom, with your favorite music and the atmosphere you desire.

Preparing for your session

Before you start epilating with your superb Intense Pulsed Light epilator, make sure you're well prepared for your home epilation session.

Read the instructions carefully and check that the appliance is compatible with your skin.

To get the most out of your device, take the time to read the user manual before starting your sessions.

In this manual, you'll find instructions on how to use your epilator and the steps to follow for optimal epilation of the different areas of your body.

At the same time, you'll learn more about the time required for each session and the number of times you'll need to use the pulsed-light epilator.

Do I need to shave beforehand?

For maximum effectiveness, we recommend that you shave the area to be depilated 48 hours before your Intense Pulsed Light session, or the day before. This avoids burning any hair that may be present.

Prepare the area to be depilated

Whatever the area to be depilated, our first and most important piece of advice is not to expose yourself to the sun, and not to use self-tanning products. This can burn your skin. And don't use photosensitizing essential oils. That said, to prepare the area to be depilated, shave it the day before or 48 hours after. In this way, the light is directed straight to the follicles. In addition, make sure your skin is clean, dry and free of creams. No traces of soap or oil should remain on the skin. This applies equally to the face, bikini line, underarms and legs.

Protect your moles and tattoos

If you're lucky enough to have beautiful moles, it's vital to protect them. The same goes for scars. Similarly, pulsed light cannot treat tanned skin.

If your skin is adorned with freckles or age spots, the light must not be allowed to come into direct contact with them, as there is a risk of burns. Breast nipples, mucous membranes and pretty tattoos must also be perfectly protected to avoid any risk of injury.

During the IPL session

During the IPL session, follow certain steps to optimize your hair removal!

Apply the conductive gel to optimize the results of your session

To get the best results from your IPL session at home, apply the conductive gel. This transmission gel acts as a conductor between the follicle and the flash. Apply the gel to hair-free skin just before using your epilator. Apply the gel in a thick layer to the skin, without letting it dry. The best solution is to apply it as you epilate. Once your epilation is complete, remove any gel residue in the shower or with a damp cloth.

Don't forget to remove the gel from your epilator with a damp towel or glove, or even better, with an optical spray.

Use of special goggles

For added safety, whether or not you're in a well-lit room, use special eyewear. It's important that you don't look at the flash when using your epilator. Goggles help you avoid the glare of the flash.

Make a test patch on a small area of your skin

At least 24 hours in advance, make a test patch. Simply set the epilator to your skin tone and hair color. Then start the light flash on a small area of the body. If you don't notice any lesions or irritation within 24 hours, then the pulsed-light epilator is for you! If you do notice a small trace, simply try the operation again, reducing the light intensity.

Choosing the right intensity

Depending on the area to be depilated, you'll need to take a look at the instructions to set the right intensity for your skin. Whether your skin is fair or darker, the intensity is not the same. If you feel a slight tingling sensation, lower the intensity. Also, be careful not to flash the same area several times.

After the session

After the session, take care of your skin!

Apply a skin care product

To moisturize your skin after waxing, put aside any scrubs or creams immediately after the session. Instead, use gentle, soothing cosmetics.

Avoid exposure to the sun

Before exposing yourself to the sun, wait at least 48 hours after your sessions. If this should happen, use a sunblock for optimum skin protection. Of course, the best time to undergo IPL hair removal is during the autumn and winter months. That way, you're on the safe side.

Clean your device with a compatible product

After a pulsed-light hair removal session, unplug your device and let it cool down. Using a damp cloth, clean the epilator's accessories and glass.

Will the hair grow back?

Good things come to those who wait! The same goes for those of you who want soft, smooth, hair-free skin. But don't expect to get a perfect result from your first session. For a definitive result, several sessions are needed to completely destroy the hair follicle. Your sessions should be spaced two weeks apart, and after the third session, you'll start to see results. In fact, don't hesitate to draw up a calendar so you can easily keep track of your sessions!

For armpits or face, plan a session lasting about three minutes. For whole legs, allow approximately 20 minutes per leg. We recommend that you treat the body areas to be waxed on different days. Don't plan to do everything at once.

Darker hairs, with more melanin, are easier to remove with Intense Pulsed Light. If you have darker hair, you'll need fewer sessions. If your hair is lighter, additional sessions may be necessary.

Hair no longer grows back. However, you should be aware that, after a while, a few hairs may come and say hello. Don't panic! This is perfectly normal. Your skin will remain extremely soft, and all you need to do is maintain your depilation with one or two sessions, just to say goodbye to them.

So, if you're looking for an incredible beauty tip, this one's for you! How to depilate with an Intense Pulsed Light Epilator? As you can see, it couldn't be simpler. It's practical, economical and effective. The result is stunning: soft, smooth skin! The time you spend epilating will be behind you. Make way for moments of well-being and indulgence.
